Andrew Cooper entered the House of Lords in 2014 as a Conservative peer, but now sits as an Independent. He worked for the Conservative Party from 1995-1999, first as deputy director in the Conservative Research Department and then as Director of Strategy from 1997-1999 to the then party leader, William Hague. In 2000, he co-founded the research and strategy consultancy, Populus. He took a leave of absence from Populus from 2011-2013, to serve as the director of strategy at No 10 during the Cameron-Clegg coalition. He is now President and Senior Adviser at Yonder Consulting.
