Garvin Brown

Garvin Brown recently retired from Brown-Forman Corp. The company was founded by his great-great-grandfather in 1870, and is the distiller of Jack Daniel’s Tennessee Whiskey, along with other fine spirits brands. Garvin began his employment at Brown-Forman in 1996 in field sales in New York City. He joined the Board in 2006 as a Director and became its Chairman in 2007.Garvin was raised in Montreal, Canada, and has degrees from McGill University (B.A. – Political Science & History), the University of British Columbia (M.A. – Political Science) and London Business School (M.B.A).

His public sector interests include global trade governance, and democracy. He supports global trade research at Chatham House and the International Institute for Strategic Studies, in London; and recently endowed the Diamond-Brown Chair in Democratic Studies at McGill University, in Montreal.
