Angela Smith

Angela Smith was the Labour MP for Sheffield Hillsborough from 2005-2010. In 2010 she was re-elected to Parliament as MP for the new constituency of Penistone & Stockbridge. She was the Parliamentary Private Secretary to Yvette Cooper at the Department of Communities and the Treasury from 2005-2008. In 2009 she joined the select committee on transport and after a spell as an opposition whip, she was promoted to the Shadow Deputy Leader of the House in 2011. After serving as Shadow Minister in Environment, Food and Rural Affairs, she left the Labour party in February 2019, and stood as an Independent MP in the General Election of 2019. She has now left Parliament to pursue new opportunities and is a non-executive Director at Portsmouth Water.
